What we collect, and why
We only collect personal data that you give us yourself through one of the three forms on this website. We do not buy data, and we do not profile visitors.
Workshop registration
When you register for a workshop we ask for your name and email address, which are required, and optionally your phone number, company or vessel, your professional role, and any message you choose to write. You also select which session you want to attend.
Why: to process your registration, send you the programme and practical details, and contact you if a session changes.
Legal basis: steps taken at your request before entering into an agreement, GDPR Article 6(1)(b).
General enquiries
When you write to us through the contact form we ask for your name and email address and your message, which are required, and optionally your organisation and your professional role.
Why: to answer your enquiry.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, GDPR Article 6(1)(f).
Newsletter
If you sign up for project updates we collect your email address only.
Why: to send you workshop dates and news about the development of the whale watching captain standard.
Legal basis: your consent, GDPR Article 6(1)(a). You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, and every newsletter contains an unsubscribe option.
How your data is handled
Form submissions are sent to us by email. They are not stored in a database on this website. Your data therefore lives in our email system and nowhere else on our side.
When you submit a form you also receive an automatic confirmation email, except for the newsletter signup.
How long we keep it
- Workshop registrations: for the duration of the workshop programme and 24 months afterwards, so we can document participation and contact you about follow up training.
- General enquiries: until the matter is resolved, and then up to 12 months.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
Data required by accounting legislation is kept for as long as that legislation requires.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing purposes. Your data is processed by the following on our behalf:
- Our web host, www.Domene.no, which operates the server this website runs on.
- Our email provider, www.Domene.no, which delivers and stores the messages sent from the forms.
Both act as data processors under written agreements. We share data with public authorities only where we are legally required to.
Third party content
This website does not load anything from third party servers. Typefaces, images, video and scripts are all served from www.bluewings.no, so no data about your visit is passed to anyone else simply by opening a page.
We do not use analytics, advertising, social media pixels or other tracking services.
Cookies
This website does not set cookies for ordinary visitors. WordPress sets cookies only for users who log in to administer the site.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Norwegian Personal Data Act you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data deleted
- ask us to restrict how we use your data
- object to processing based on legitimate interest
- receive your data in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis
To use any of these rights, write to info@bluewings.no. We reply within 30 days.
Complaints
If you believe we handle your personal data unlawfully, you may complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet. See www.datatilsynet.no. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection. Access to the email account that receives form submissions is limited to people at Blue Wings AS who need it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and the date at the top.
